The Steam and the Mirror

The bathroom was still heavy with the lingering scent of sandalwood and steam. Avni stepped out of the walk-in shower, her skin flushed a deep, velvety pink from the heat, droplets of water tracing paths down the smooth slope of her shoulders. She reached for a towel, but paused, letting her damp hair fall in a dark, tangled curtain against her back.

She didn't rush to cover herself. In the sanctuary of her own home, the exhaustion that defined her days seemed to melt away, leaving behind only the raw reality of her body. She turned toward the fogged-up mirror and, with a lazy swipe of her hand, cleared a space to look at herself.

At four-foot-ten, she was a compact collection of soft, feminine heat. She stood with a natural, unconscious sway, her silhouette stark against the white tiles. The water had clung to her, highlighting the dramatic curvature of her figure—a sharp, narrow waist leading into the generous, heavy weight of her breasts.

She leaned closer, the cool air of the room raising goosebumps on her skin. She had always felt lost in the world—a woman too big for her small frame, or perhaps a heart too big for the people she’d given it to. But here, looking at herself, she felt a surge of silent, prideful defiance.

She looked down at her chest. They were full, firm, and undeniably striking—a 36D silhouette that seemed to vibrate with a life of its own. She traced the swell of her left breast with a dampened fingertip, lingering over the small, dark mole that sat there like a secret beauty mark. It was her favorite part of herself—the one thing she kept sacred.

Even with the familiar ache of past heartbreaks still humming in her chest, standing here, partially damp and exposed, she felt a different kind of hunger. It wasn't the need for validation from some man who would eventually leave; it was an awareness of her own power. She looked at the curves of her body—the soft, rounded hips, the dip of her waist, and the proud, heavy beauty of her bust—and for a brief moment, the fatigue vanished.

She touched her own skin, feeling the heat radiating from beneath it. She was beautiful. It was a secret she was starting to get tired of keeping for herself.
